Let us edit definitions
Some definitions are misleading or missing, for example 電話 means both phone and phonecall but the translator says only "phone". It'd be fantastic if we could edit the definitions and add in our own usage notes or whatever.
1 voteYou can review and edit translations for all your words and phrases on the Word List page: http://readlang.com/words
If a word can have two different translations I either:
- Add both translations separated by a slash – e.g. “phone / phonecall”
or:
- Add a minimal amount of surrounding context to the original word to make it a short phrase which is then less ambiguous and can have just one translation.
Hope that helps.

to help learning ... an option to gradually unveil words one letter at a time
I hope this header is sufficient to describe the idea. I presume that this is a 'valid' learning technique?

Recognize -icx- (-iĉ-) suffix for esperanto
Although -icx- (-iĉ-) isn't official, many people use it, and it would be helpful if readlang somehow recognized this suffix and provided a translation for words that use it.

Correct typos on your site
This was written in the settings section:
"a translation appears above each clicked word, and the dictinary shows additional translations into English"
Notice anything wrong there. It doesn't give me a lot of confidence in your product when something that would be flagged in any spellchecker is left on your site.

Learn the difference between å, ä and a
When I am trying to do Swedish your program seems to think these are all the same letters. They are not.
For instance, Readlang gives the same definition for håll as for hall. These are two different words.
If the A1 lessons are so wrong how can I trust anything more difficult.

option to re-order word list
It would be helpful to be able to re-order the word list in chronological or reverse chronological (or alpha) order, so we could review the words in the order we first saw them in the text, or to reverse that order. On bank statements, for example, you can click the header of a date column to do this.
1 voteYou can actually do this from the Words page by changing the dropdown that says “Recently Modified” to either:
“Oldest”: Chronological order
“Recently Added”: Reverse chronological order -
Make tracking text while watching a video by sentences, not by words.
It will be much more convenient.
One of the problems of tracking by words is that I have to put a lot of efforts for making good synchronising.4 votes -

Show image hint in the pop-up for an auto-highlight word while in read mode.
When the user clicks on an auto-highlighted word in read mode, it would be great if the pop-up showed the image hint (by the way, it is so awesome that GIFs work) that has been set up.
It may be incredibly useful to have in lieu of a translation in monolingual mode.

Allow add the option to (un)star while in Flashcard mode
Hey Steve!
Would love it if we could (un)star words while in Flashcard mode.
Readlang rocks!
All the best,

toggle flash card creation or ask for confirmation before making one
I've just discovered ReadLang a few days ago and love it. Beautiful job.
I do find the automatic flash card creation feature very useful, but sometimes I want to turn it off to just practice reading and keep my word list tidy. I'm new to reading Spanish and tend to highlight a lot (for the translations). Most of what I highlight I don't want saved in my word list. Alternatively, I'd probably be happier if it asked me to confirm each time it wanted to create a flash card.
Anyway, based on your last blog post I guess you're done…

Latin out of beta?
I love ReadLang and have been using it to sharpen my own Spanish reading skills. I teach Latin to middle schoolers, and would love to have them use use ReadLang as a tool to read harder Latin texts. Any chance it will emerge from beta soon? Thanks! Rick Beyer
3 votesThe reason it is still in beta is that I don’t have a good word frequency list of Latin words. This is used to prioritize learning with flashcards and to attempt to judge the difficult of each text.
It still might be useful to try using Readlang to read Latin yourself and if you think it’s helpful to recommend it to your students as it is.

offer an export field that uses Anki's cloze syntax in reverse
Hi Steve,
can you also add an third export fields using the Anki cloze format like
Context (Anki cloze with reverse translation):
{{c1::translation::original word}}for reverse learning because Anki cannot switch front and back for cloze cards.
Many thanks in advance.
