  1. Fix the parsing of German quotation marks.

Some German texts use the following quotation marks: » «. Often, when parsing the context sentence, it will grab the » that is part of a quote of the next sentence. It requires a lot of time to fix these dangling quotation marks at the end of sentences. Thanks.

  2. Fix bug where the context sentence doesn't include text from the previous page.

When using the reader in Readlang, if I click on a word in a sentence that spans two pages, the captured context sentence does not include words from the previous page. I end up having to delete these cards because an incomplete context sentence is not useful.

  3. English to English translation

Has it been implemented? i basically just want to learn new words, or keep phrases that I read. I would like to write one day, and that would be a great way to store useful words and phrases.

  4. Don't automatically put words in deleted folder.

Just because I had them yesterday doesn't mean I don't want to practice them today!

  5. Provide a nice-looking cyrillic font with serif

I tried the few fonts that are available but did not find a cyrillic font (russian) pleasant to look at.

  6. dark theme for readlang

The ebook reader looks great on mobile. I'd love to have a toggle button where you can put it in "dark mode", ie white text on black background.

  7. add a way to mark and sideline "leeches".

For words that I get wrong, say, 5 times, it would be nice to mark them as leeches and take them out of active flashcards. Then if I encounter that word again in text, I could reactivate it and it back in to active flashcards but with a new context sentence.

  8. Fix this bug

After editing a card and hitting save, sometimes the edit screen won't close. To get out you can hit cancel but then the flashcard isn't changed

  9. use VNTokenizer for Vietnamese

Vietnamese separates syllables with spaces, so you have to use a tokenizer to find the words. As the beta version of Readlang currently stands, each syllable is considered a word and multi-syllabic words are considered phrases, which Readlang treats quite differently.

  10. Allow Highlighting with Showing Translation or Dictionary

During my first pass through an article, I like to just highlight the words I don't know, but not actually see the translations or the dictionary. In addition to the "Translations On" and "Translations Off (monolingual)" options, it would be nice if there was a "Highlight Only" mode. Perhaps this could also be implemented/presented as a "Don't open dictionary" option on the "Translations Off" mode.

  12. Option to highlight words without displaying their translations

I would love to be able to highlight words I don't know without having their translations appear on screen. This would serve several functions:

    - The text would not rearrange itself everytime I click on a word, thus keeping proper formatting and allowing for more text to stay on the screen;

    - I could read through the text without being distracted by the translation, allowing me to note which words I am unsure of while still being able to consider their meaning through context, and pay more attention to the text as a whole.

    - Once I am done reading,…

  13. Open Source Readlang

Now that you are working for Duolingo (congrats by the way!) and have declared Readlang has been declared "feature complete", have you considered open sourcing Readlang? I understand that you don't have the time to devote to new features, but I'm sure there are developers out there in your user base (like me) who would be more than happy to contribute to the project (even if you get the money for operating the service). There's so many good feature requests on here that I'd love to see implemented, and I think open sourcing and embracing community contributions would be a…

  14. YouTube Syncing in Text Format

In addition to the interactive interface for syncing videos, it would be nice to be able to edit the syncing in text format as well. This would be more of a power user feature that would let users tweak the syncing by hand. What I really want is SRT format support (link to that feature request below), but if that is too hard, just exposing your native syncing format for users to edit by hand would allow for external tools to do the SRT. I figure this would be an easy feature from your perspective and lean on the community…

  15. Days before order/display

Is it possible to order the words shown in the tabular display in order of days remaining to the next prompt (ascending or descending). And preferably to show the number of remaining days.

I find the "forgotten" words typically to be in the 20-50.day range, and would like to be able to select this group for re-testing

  16. Update default Korean dictionaries to Daum's small form factor

The default Korean-English dictionary is Daum, but it uses the full size form factor, so doesn't fit well in the sidebar. However, they also have small form factor dictionary that looks a lot better and still has the same functionality. I know users can customize the dictionary, but I think this would be a better default:

    http://small.dic.daum.net/search.do?q={{query}}&dic=eng

While you're at it, I'd also recommend changing the monolingual dictionary to their small form factor Korean-Korean dictionary. Not only is this more consistent with the other dictionary, but it also handles multiple words and particles and conjugations on words. The current default…

  17. Problem with iOS

If you accidentally turn the screen into horizontal mode when reading the book on iOS device (I have iPhone 5s) the zooming settings would go stuck.
Only way out is to close the "app" and open it up again.
Waiting desperately for the android app to appear so i can read on my barnes&noble.

  18. How about adding F. M. S. P.?

Some words in certain languages have Feminine, Masculine, Singular, and plural versions of the same word.
This makes flash cards a little difficult for languages such as Spanish when translating with English which doesn't have Feminine or Masculine terms.
By adding F. S. the learner knows which form of the given word they are asking for.

  20. Sometimes I do not get a translation but the very same word. Even so you know the translation. Looks strange to me

I often get the same word as a translation as the English word, for example "kerfuffle".
But If I look up your word list and scroll down, I can find the correct translation. So I think, there must be an error somewhere.
