Does anything bug you about using Readlang? Add or vote on suggestions to improve it!

NOTE: Readlang is run by just one person, me, Steve. Even entire software development teams can't implement all the great ideas that they come up with, and this is doubly true in my case since I'm just a single person. So although I read all the ideas posted here, I can't possibly implement most of them. The feedback definitely helps inform my product decisions though, so please keep posting!

  1. Modify background colour

    When studying flash cards it would be awesome to be able to change the background colour. The background design as is now, hurts the eyes after a while.

  3. Fix a bug that doesn't let me access my premium account

    I have paid for my premium account for several months, and this month my account says that I am on the free plan, even though my bank account is still being charged for the premium one. I do not have access to the premium features which I have paid for.

  4. Cannot find Readlang extention

    Hello, I have installed the Readlang extension in Chrome browser but it does not appear in the Bookmarlets. What should I do please? Thank you very much! Kind regards David

  5. Possible change to DeepL api

    I know Readlang currently uses the Google API for translations, but being that DeepL just released access recently to their API, it may be a very nice change to the site. DeepL is by far the best machine translator out there currently. Just an idea, loving the sites anyways!

  6. Keep the clicked word and the text after it as it is before clicking.

    I suggest you keep the clicked word in place and move the preceding original text to accommodate the translation without moving the clicked word and the text after it.

    It can added in the setting. It is annoying to me and I haven’t renewed because of it and after coming back to the service 4 years later I feel the same way.

  7. do not delete all occurances

    I added a word for the second time, saw that it has different meaning than previous time, so I tried to highlight a longer phrase to differentiate it (as there is no option to split flashcards). Instead of having a phrase and the old word with original translation I have only the phrase because the word was deleted totally (also with the old meaning). You could process a word with it context in order to not make this mistake. And give as an option to split flashcard by different meanings. Writing out every meaning in one field isn't very comfortable…

  9. Size of the words

    Hi, I think size of the translated word should shrink to the space of the original, because as you click on, since the translation is longer or shorter, the sentences and words move between lines all the time. It is confusing and annoying while reading.

  10. Check for replies to emails sent to paying customers.

    I was sent a couple of emails stating that my card had expired and the collection of my monthly subscription had failed.

    The card quoted was one I had used with Readlang on a previous occasion a couple of years back.

    My current card which is still valid and from which Readlang has been taking payment each month for more than the last six months, was totally ignored.
    Also ignored were my emails sent in response, asking what was going on?
    My premium membership has now been ceased, in fairness the "payment failed", emails I received did invite me to…

  15. Add ability to customize the begin of one day

    Because I like to stay up late, I often memorize words in the early hours of the next morning, and I want to count these words as the number of recitations the day before, so I want to be able to customize the start time of the day, such as setting it at 4 a.m. every morning. Thanks

    when i click on the word to translate ,
    When the translation is displayed, this translation appears on the top line of my text and I can not read it . please highlight the tranlation box to read easily

  17. Fix the web reader!

    Every time I go to translate a phrase in the web reader, it tells me to sign in. Then when I sign in, and try it, it tells me to sign in again! Please fix this!

  18. Duplicate or split cards easily

    Make it possible to easily split cards with multiple contexts where the word means something different in each context, as contexts get added automatically to my cards when the word/phrase cannot be translated to exactly the same thing in English for each.

  19. Is Readlang still alive ?

    Readlang has been in maintenance mode since 2016 and will remain this way for the foreseeable future. This means that we ensure the site runs smoothly it has been, but we aren't adding any new features or support for any more languages.

    Wondering if you would be interested in selling it. I have a lot of ideas for new features and think it's a shame it's not being actively developed.

  20. the firefox extension doesnt work

    when downloading it says it corrupt and won't install
