This is definitely a good idea to have offline access to flashcards. Is it possible to export flashcards eg to Quizlet? That's another option. Except you wouldn't get the really useful contextual info that Readland provides.

The current audio option seems to clip the start and end of words in Chinese. Words are also pronounced too quickly for beginners. The ability to customise this feature would be invaluable for beginner readers. The TTS system that Quizlet uses is superb - is there any way that could be utilised?

For beginner readers using tone colours is an excellent way of embedding this problematic issue students have with remembering the tones for individual characters into the reading process. Students will be able to acquire the correct tones more readily without even having to focus on this task. Could I suggest that if this is implemented that the reader be allowed to select the tone colour s/he prefers as different readers have different preferences.
