Does anything bug you about using Readlang? Add or vote on suggestions to improve it!

NOTE: Readlang is run by just one person, me, Steve. Even entire software development teams can't implement all the great ideas that they come up with, and this is doubly true in my case since I'm just a single person. So although I read all the ideas posted here, I can't possibly implement most of them. The feedback definitely helps inform my product decisions though, so please keep posting!

  2. It would be nice that when editor tab is open, editor shows the same page as I am on the reading page.

    It would be nice that when editor tab is open, editor shows the same page as I am on the reading page. Currently, the text is static and it could be dificult to find in the editor where my cursor is on the reading page, especially in a long text

  3. Auto-syncing YouTube with Timestamps

    Under YouTube videos, there is an option to "Open Transcript" which shows the video's subtitles with or without time stamps (you can toggle on or off). I have been copy-pasting the transcripts without time stamps to Readlang, but then you have to spend time syncing them manually, which I, personally, don't find this a useful step in the learning process. It would be AWESOME if we could copy-paste the time stamped transcript into Readlang and Readlang would recognize the timestamps and sync it for us.

  6. Limit the number of words / sentences shown per page

    I find it overwhelming when I see a wall of text in a foreign language before my eyes. I propose to limit the number of words shown per page to help users manage this anxiety.

    I saw this feature implemented by LingQ: they would allow you pick if you want to see a sentence or a paragraph per page.

    I would suggest implementing the same feature here (and I like this service way more anyway)

  13. Change the colour of the definition

    When I click on a word in a foreign language to get a definition, the definition appears above the word in light green. This often means that I am not able to see the definition very clearly if at all. It would be great for it to appear in a darker colour, or maybe in a speech bubble.

  14. duplicating flashcards

    I know it doesn't sound very useful, but when you have a flashcard with two example sentences, you cannot add another word to the learned part to learn a full phrase (because the other example sentence does not contain it). If there was a simple mechanism of duplicating flashcars the examples wouldn't be lost and I could create two different flashcards with these sentences.

  16. preserve the look of the app

    I really like the straightforward nature of readlang. Please resist the urge to add competitions, leader boards, avatars, coins, and all of the irrelevant distractions that plague so many other apps. That kind of nonsense ruins so many apps that could be excellent.
